Mrs. Martha Usher Rahn
Mrs. Martha Usher Rahn, 92, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Hospice Savannah after spending the last year of her life in The Place at Pooler where she was loved and greatly cared for.
Mrs. Martha was born in Cobbtown, GA to the late William Tell & Ottie Green Usher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth W. Rahn, Sr., and two sons, Bernard A. Rahn and Wendell L. Rahn, Sr. She was a long time resident of Springfield where she worked at both Braggs and Snooks Grocery Stores, and later became a bookkeeper at SunTrust Bank in Savannah. She was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Church of Christ in Rincon, then in the last few years attended The Church at Godley Station in Pooler.
Survivors include her daughters, Faye Saturday (husband, C.R. Saturday, Jr. deceased), Anne Darst (husband, John), Sharon Hales (husband, Dennis), Frankie Fort (husband, Tommy), Bonnie Randle (husband, Michael), Paula Rahn, and son, Kenneth W. Rahn, Jr.; daughters-in-law, Rose Rahn and Jackie Rahn; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the proud grandmother of 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren. Over a period of 25 years she and Mr. Kenneth loved and fostered 51 additional children.
The visitation will be on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
The funeral will be on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler. Burial will follow at Springfield Cemetery.
