Peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2016.  Dorese was born December 12, 1922 in Houston, Texas.  Preceded in death by husband, Robert Lockheart Reid, Dorese leaves behind a loving family, including her son Jeff Allen Reid, daughter Linda D. Kilgore and her husband Jim Kilgore, Granddaughter Melissa Kilgore Brasher and her husband Brett Brasher, Granddaughter Melanie McTaggart and her husband David McTaggart, and great-grandchildren, Claire and Grant McTaggart.

Dorese, a native Texan, was very involved in her community, donating her time to more than 25 organizations in her lifetime from the Girl Scouts, Red Cross, churches, to her most recent volunteer job at Kingwood Medical Hospital. Dorese was a multi-talented and gifted individual.  In her youth, she became interested in the talent-world and involved herself in radio, singing and dance. By the time she was at San Jacinto high school here in Houston, she was an accomplished dancer and was featured in several movies in the late 40s and performed on stage in New York.  She married in the earlier 50s and continued to work as a choreographer here in Houston.  Mid in her life, Dorese went back to college to study nutrition. After receiving honors, she developed a medical interest and served in the hospital field for fourteen years of dedication service.  Later in her life, she began writing on exercise and health and also wrote a book of poetry, winning a poetry award from New York. Too numerous to name were Dorese’s accomplishments. She used all her talents and lived a very exciting life. Dorese will surely be missed by her loving family and the community of which she so generously gave her time and talent.

            A celebration of life will be held privately with family at Forest Park Funeral Mausoleum.  In lieu of memorial gifts, Dorese wishes all gifts to go the American Heart Association.
