Melissa Currin Rike was born on January 7, 1963 to Marcella and Clif Currin, Sr. of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania as one of four children.  She passed away on March 8, 2016 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 53.

Growing up, Melissa carved tunnels in winter snow, rode horses at nearby stables, and grew bronzed during summer vacations on the beach. A journey to Japan with her father instilled in her a passion for travel. She graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Electrical Engineering but discovered that the mortgage business better suited her. She began studying the Bible in 1986 and symbolized her dedication to Jehovah by water baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1988.

Melissa was well known for her enthusiasm, loving manner, unending compassion, and quick thinking.  She loved being a mother to her two children, Monika and Zachary, thriving in themed parties, costume dramas, dress-up, tea parties and ministry-focused trips across Texas and the United States.  In addition, she traveled to Mexico, Jamaica, St. Croix, the Philippines, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia and Russia with her children and friends to enjoy spiritual association with others and share Bible truths.  Once her children were grown, she hoped to return to the Philippines to support the preaching work there. Melissa was a tireless worker in her role as Bible teacher, serving as a pioneer, or full time minister, for the past 11 years.  Joyously sharing whatever she had, her home was always open to others.  Her family and friends miss her acutely but are comforted that she is in Jehovah’s generous hands.

She is survived by her children, Monika and Zachary Rike, her father, Clif Currin, Sr., siblings Marie Currin, Clif Currin, Jr. and his wife, Debby, Marcie Currin, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Marcella (Marcie) Biebusch Currin.
