Rumbley, Janice

Janice Ellen Rumbley was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 29, 1946, to Julia and Art Rediger.  Janice was happily married to John “Dick” Rumbley for 32 years.   She was a resident of the Houston area until March 25, 2017, when she passed from this life at her home in Humble, Texas, surrounded by her family and friends.

rn

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Art Rediger, of Chicago, Illinois.

rn

Janice is survived by her loving husband, Dick, her stepdaughter and son-in-law Lynn and Michael Dougherty of Atlanta, Georgia; her grandchildren; Virginia Lane and Thomas Dougherty, also of Atlanta; first cousins Donna Bates and Maureen Brzinski, of Chicago, Illinois, who were like sisters; numerous family members and six precious God children.

rn

Janice lived a life to be celebrated.  In 2014 she retired from a successful career in group sales with United Airlines.  More importantly, Janice enjoyed travelling, mentoring children, and helping those in need.  As a longtime member of St. Martha Catholic Church, her ministry was most profoundly expressed through her commitment to the Gabriel Project: a parish-based crisis pregnancy intervention program providing emotional and spiritual help to mothers in need.  Janice’s ten plus years of devotion to this organization aided dozens of expectant mothers and their children through difficult times and choices.

rn

Janice’s life was one of service to family, friends and to those in need.  She served with a thankful and giving heart and glorified God through her service and love.
