OBITUARY

Carmen Salinas, 86, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2019, surrounded by family.

rn

She was a cherished and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Aunt, and Friend – whose greatest joy was her family.  She often spoke proudly of her daughters, their spouses and grandchildren (including her grand-dogs). Born in San Antonio, Texas, Carmen was the oldest of three girls.  She was an excellent seamstress – creating beautiful clothes, costumes and interior fashions for many family and friends.  She enjoyed working at clothing stores, where she took pride in helping families and young children look and dress their very best.  Given her immense love for children, Carmen spent almost ten years working at several schools in the Round Rock Independent School District.  With her spunky attitude and welcoming personality, Carmen enjoyed these last four years at Watercrest Independent Living in Kingwood, Texas, where she could be found socializing, organizing activities and serving as an Ambassador for the community.  Carmen’s greatest love, however; was her children and grandchildren.  She beamed with pride when seeing them, talking to them, or about them.  Nothing brought her greater joy than being with family, watching one of the grandkids at a sporting event, or gathering together with friends over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee.

rn

She married Rick Salinas on February 8, 1959, and a lifetime of sweet, loving and fun memories began.  They lived in Seguin, Austin, Round Rock and Kingwood, Texas, where every step of the way they cherished deep and lasting friendships.

rn

Carmen is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Rick, daughters Rebecca Salinas Wallace and husband Robert, and Felicia Salinas Beswick and husband Steve Majid. She was beyond blessed with her grandchildren:  Lexi Beswick, Cory Majid, Emilee Beswick, Chelsea (Majid) McClure and Matthew Majid.  She was also a terrific dog Grandma to Luke and Rocket.  She leaves behind her sisters, Bertha Gonzales and Dolores Serna, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and beloved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26th at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2929 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, TX 77339.

Carmen LOVED gardens, flowers, children and the Church. It is our incredible honor to partner with Good Shepherd School to create a Carmen Salinas Memorial Garden – an outdoor learning classroom that will be lovingly designed, planted, and maintained by the children and staff of Good Shepherd School.  If you wish, you may make donations to the Carmen Salinas Memorial Garden.  Please make checks payable to Good Shepherd School and note in Memo line “Carmen Salinas”. If you wish to donate electronically, please contact the school and ask to speak with Karen Moran, the Finance Director.
