Out with friends one night, she happened to run into a young man home for the weekend from his job in Montana.  Sparks flew!   After a long distance romance, courtship and engagement, on September 24, 1960 Marv Schumacher made Voniece his wife.  The couple moved to Mile City, Montana where they were blessed with 2 beautiful children, Stephen and Cindy (Sexton).

Voniece’s resume is long, in the early years in Montana she worked at Mile City National Bank. After the family relocated to Missoula, she became a full time mom. Involved in church activities, a neighborhood event served as Homeroom mom, Cub Scout Mom, Brownie Leader, and was an incredible crafter and seamstress. She volunteered thousands of hours in every community in which she lived. She played bridge, bowled and golf but her passion was always reading. Later in life after Marv retired she went back to work as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Ve-Za-Ve Hair Salon in Sun City West.

Marv and Voniece had a blessed life together, married for 54 years their love stood the test of time. They had many family members and friends who enriched their lives.  It was so apparent to anyone around them that they shared a great love. They shared that love of life with all who knew them but especially with their children, Steve Schumacher, Cindy and John Sexton, grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsea & Stephen Schumacher, Sarah, Ellie & Will Sexton and great grandchildren, Timanthony, Trinityann & Maza’Riya

Voniece was an incredible lady; she was the Quiet Leader in the Schumacher family leading by example.  Much like a lesson from St. Francis who said “The women who works with her hands is only a laborer. The woman who works with her hands and her head is a craftswoman. The woman who works with her hands, her head and her heart is an artist. Voniece was a most spectacular artist; most cherished and will be greatly missed.
