Seams, Jerry

Jerry Eugene Seams, 79, died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Silverado Memory Care Center in Kingwood after a long battle with several health issues including Parkinson’s Disease.

rn

He leaves his wife of 11 years, Paula (St. Philip); his sons, Jerry (Brooke), Greg (Jennifer), Chris (Cecile), Doug (Kristen); his daughter, Rona (Rod Rinholm); his stepson Robert (Bridget) Johnson; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many close friends.

rn

Jerry was born in East Moline Illinois to Lawrence and Edith (Wells) Seams on February 17, 1936. Edith died two years later and Louis (Lane) married Lawrence and became Jerry’s step mom.  Jerry had an older step brother Gary and a younger half-brother Darrell, both deceased.  Growing up in the East Moline area, Jerry was a shy person going 9 years to D B Hoffman elementary and graduating high school at United Township High School (Hill-toppers).  Jerry learned a great deal in high school including his lifelong love of cars, marksmanship, and sense of humor.

rn

Jerry gained a love of technical problems from his introduction to drafting in high school by his influential teacher Paul Oliver. This skill and interest took Jerry to his first post high school job as a draftsman with Ametek. Jerry excelled in this position and soon worked his way into technical sales of filter fabrics.  This position took Jerry all over the country and he and his family of seven to Houston in 1972.

rn

Jerry took on many great challenges in life including raising 5 children as a loving compassionate parent, rebounding from the early loss of his mother, working successfully in a technical world starting as a draftsman, and always thinking about others before him-self. Jerry loved life, good friends, and the adventures of the world. Jerry always let those closest to him know he was proud of them and offered encouragement.

rn

Jerry was married twice in his life, initially at the age of 22, he married his first love, Doris (DeCapp) with whom he raised 5 children over 30 years.  Several years after his first marriage ended, Jerry met Paula (St. Philip) and was smitten with her charm.  They were married in 2004 and their love continued to blossom over the years always including many “I love you’s” every day.

rn

Jerry Seams was a hard working selfless man freely giving love and caring and asking little in return.  So many were blessed to call him dad, “papa”, honey bunny, and friend.

rn

A church service will be held at St. Martha Catholic Church of Kingwood at 10am on Thursday, February 11, 2016.  A private burial will be held in Slidell, Louisiana for family at a later date.
