After valiantly battling brain cancer for the last 16 months George passed away in Humble, Texas on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 4 days.

George Keller Stich was born on December 20, 1946 in Houston, Texas to George Leonard Stich and Myrtle Lee Brock Stich. Over time his family moved to a dairy farm in Decker Prairie near Tomball on Hwy 249. Later they moved to Lakeland in Conroe, Texas which was a subdivision now part of The Woodlands. He attended public schools and graduated from Conroe High School in 1966.

He was drafted into the Armed Forces in 1966 to 1968 as an Army MP, which leads to being an officer, in Fort Carson, Colorado. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Upon his return to civilian life he attended the Houston Police Academy graduating in September 1969. He met his long time friend Daniel Wosnitzky at the academy. For 20 years he was with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he retired. After a brief vacation he began employment with CCA, Corrections Corp. of America, where his career ended due to illness in September 2015 after 10 plus years of service.

In 1970 he met Linda Arnold at South Aldine Baptist Church where they married on Monday, June 22, 1970. His brother-in-law suggested he get married early in the morning so if it didn’t work out the whole day wasn’t wasted. He and Linda had been married 46 years raising two sons, George Arnold Stich and Russell Lee Stich.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Porter where he sang in the choir for some time. He loved the music provided by the talented members of FBC. He enjoyed being in Guy Hancock’s Sunday School Class and quizzing Guy on his knowledge of the Bible. He enjoyed many meals and good times as a member of Wayne Farmer’s Men of Faith Group. He only missed three Fun Family Fall Festivals during his membership. He enjoyed all the projects he was given for making props.

He was also a member of GWRRA, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter N-2 in Humble, Tx since 2007 where he and Linda held positions of The Couple of the Year in 2013, he was Member Enhancement Coordinator in 2014 and Assistant Chapter Director from 2015 to present. He achieved his Master Rider status for safe riding. Anyone who knew George has been regaled with his tales of riding motorcycles and his love of the sport. He truly enjoyed the rides, other enthusiasts and anything associated with riding motorcycles. He owned Yamaha’s, Moto Guzzis, and Gold Wings from the early 1970’s to today. He also enjoyed fundraising for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Ride for Kids motorcycle charity events sponsored by American Honda. His greatest joy was when the Team for RFK asked him to provide a motorcycle escort for a young girl with a brain tumor. PBTF is the leading nonprofit funding research into childhood brain tumors.

George enjoyed all of Elvis Presley’s songs and played them while riding his bike. He also loved the old gospel songs, country western, and more. Another all time favorite was Star Trek. He took every opportunity to watch Captain Kirk and crew ” where no man has gone before!”

He was preceded in death by parents George Leonard and Myrtle Lee Brock Stich, Sister and husband Kathryn and Wayne Jennings, and Uncle Wesley Stich.

He is survived by wife, Linda Arnold Stich, son and daughter-in-law George Arnold Stich and Michelle, son Russell Lee Stich, niece Margaret Ann Smith, niece Carole Cunningham, niece Janice Cozine, Aunt Elsie Stich and son Will, and numerous great nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

God saw that he was getting weak
