Born August 23, 1951 in Tierra Blanca Veracruz, Mexico, to the union of Nicholas Vazquez and Anna Marquez Quintana. She grew up in a small town Achotal where she was raised by her Abuela. In her late 20’s mom divorced and moved to Houston TX. She always loved performing as a singer; and at one point sang with Juan Gabriel and other artist on tour. She continued to sing and perform. Mom worked very hard for us and tried to give us the best life possible. She worked as a fruit decorator for 14 years at the Kingwood country club where she met and later married her late husband Jose Arredondo. In May of 2018 mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and died at home on January 25th. Mom is survived by her 4 daughters: Victoria, Ruby, Wendy and Lila. She has 17 grandchildren and 12 Great grandchildren. Elia was considered colorful, creative, strong, hardworking. Her favorite singers were Juan Gabriel, Ana Gabriel, Amanda Guzmán, Charlie Zaa, Dixie Chicks, Jeanette, Bronco, Selena, Los Bukis, Pasteles Verdes, Leo Dan, Antonio Aguilar, Flor Sylvestre. She loved her Fur Babies, gardening, singing, sewing and spending time with her grand babies. Mother didn’t want us crying for her, she wanted us to be happy and remember all the good times, she wanted colors, flowers, music and to be surrounded with love. Let’s always remember our mother, niece, cousin, sister, friend for what she was, loving, relentless, full of life, a songbird, lover of all things created by god.
