OBITUARY

Karen was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 19, 1958. She was a very devout Catholic and her faith in God is what defined her! Karen was a very active parishioner at St. Martha’s Parish in Kingwood. Here, she was involved in many church ministries. She devoted her time to the Good Shepherd Program, Famillia, the Rosary Guild, and the Serra Club. She was also a avid sponsor of the ACTS Retreat.

rn

Karen was also the founder of a Pro-life ministry “Teenie Weenie Witness Wear”. This started out as a line of baby onesies that expresses, through scripture verses, the validation of how precious life is in this world. The innocence of a baby wearing this clothing serves as a gentle approach to promoting the dignity and sanctity of the human person.

rn

Karen enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Lake Jacksonville. It was here that she created lifelong memories. She enjoyed outdoor activities which included boating, swimming, skiing, and much more. Relaxing at the lake house was her favorite past time.

rn

She also loved nature, especially butterflies. She liked to think that whenever she would see a butterfly nearby, it was a loved one who had come down from Heaven, just to say hello!

rn

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Frances Newsom and her oldest brother, Michael. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, David, and her devoted boys, Matthew and Mark, sister Terry Miday and her husband John, brother John Newsom and his wife Margaret.

rn

She was a living example of how one should live their life, day to day, following in Jesus’ footsteps. Her spirit will always remain close to our hearts. She will be greatly missed by loving family members and friends. She will be remembered by her gentle kindness and loving ways.

rn

Karen would always say goodnight by saying, “Sleep with the angels.” Now that is exactly where she is, sleeping with the angels!
