OBITUARY

Alvin V. White, 90, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2016.  He was born on November 12, 1925, in Aransas Pass, Texas, to Adele and Byron White.  Shortly after graduating from high school in Aransas Pass, he served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II.  While stationed in Italy, he completed 47 combat missions over Europe as an armorer-tail gunner on a B-24 bomber.  After the war he attended The University of Texas and graduated with BS Degree in Petroleum Engineering.

Mr. White was proceeded in death by his parents and both brothers, Winston White of Aransas Pass and Earl White of Harlingen, Texas.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joella, of Kingwood, Texas, a daughter Sharon Cole of Ft. Worth, Texas, a daughter Jan Wheeler of Brookfield, Connecticut, and a son Mark White of Kingwood, Texas.  In addition, he is survived by a sister Loucile Schulte of Victoria, Texas.

Mr. White worked 40 years as a petroleum engineer in the oil industry.  His last position was Vice President of Drilling and Production for Newmont Oil Company in Houston, Texas. He was a long time member of the SPE and AIME and was a registered engineer in the states of Texas and Louisiana. He also served as President of  the Fort Worth chapter of Petroleum Engineers.  He traveled to many countries around the world on business.  He and his wife Joella together visited all seven continents.

Visitation can be made from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Kingwood United Methodist Church, 1799 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, TX 77339.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Kingwood United Methodist Church with a reception following.  Private graveside services will be held at Houston National Cemetery on another day.

Donations may be made to Society of St. Stephens, Kingwood United Methodist Church, 1799 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, TX 77339, in Alvin’s honor where he served for many years.
